It's not laminated, but I think the Black Editions are much cooler looking. They are also cheaper in the long run and will take less space on the bookshelf.

Wow this series sounds soo good! I have been hearing a lot of people say death note was a good manga but I have never read any. I think I will definitely be picking up the first bind-up and see how i like it. I will probably get really confused reading backwards. lol
