Description
Loving the outdoors, camping, hiking, survival, being prepared (for whatever), shooting guns, knives, outdoor equipment. I also love to do all of the above with my family. I think it is important to pass on these skills and use them for teaching opportunities with our children. I hope to share "My2sense" and also learn from yours.

your welcome! I'm glad I could pass on this easy technique. It is fun to play around with different patterns. The longer you leave on the mustard the darker the pattern turns out. fun stuff

Yes indeed. I have done this as well for full color patina. To control the patina pattern (somewhat), it has been easier to use the mustard. My favorite one ever done was overnight in vinegar (completely submerged) and then overnight with the mustard in a pattern that I wanted.

Good point.....ha ha ....Ya know, I never really thought about it....I just did it because that is what I saw. It is funny the things we do without really knowing why we do them. Thanks for the comment, I'll try it out without the plastic.

It actually helps prevent rusting from my experience....have not seen anything to contradict this conclusion...yet..

Good question, I haven't got that far yet. Although, I have forced a patina and decided to do it again for a better design on top of it. I will look into removing it and how. Thanks for the challenge!

@TheBeandip13 you can submerge the blade into a full bowl of vinegar or mustard. You can take it out and check the patina every couple of hours to get the darkness you prefer. fully submerged.

ya know, I am not sure if I've tried it with the knives I have put a patina on. That is an excellent question! I will go grab one and give it a shot and get back to ya.
