I have a black American friend who went to Africa and he was like, "Oh, man - I am not African." He was really culture shocked. As a foreigner living in the State I actually find that is true more generally - most black folk here have no idea how AMERICAN they are. The rest of the world doesn't see them primarily as "black", but rather as American.

I'm African, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and trust me Visa issues are a nightmare. I honestly don't have the time of day to get a yellow fever shot to go to Nigeria. Like really?!?!?!?!?!?! Also, just like for you, travel within Africa is very expensive. My trip to Zambia (from SA) cost about 2 times as more than my return trip to Spain (departing from Joburg). Travel within Africa is just expensive and the governments in charge don't seem to be too keen to change things.

Blacks in America totally have lost their roots. That's why they call entire Africa their homeland even though Africa is not a country or an ethnic thing at all.

I've often seen Europeans on Youtube bash Americans for not having passports and travelling abroad but they don't realize the average European has like three times as much paid time off as Americans and their employers are just much more lax about work in general, plus It's much cheaper for them.

Um... Black Americans barely travel at all so if they do they go somewhere affordable. When flights to Africa become as cheap as going to Europe more people in general will travel to Africa

Blacks in the US have been completely uplifted by living in a white managed societies. Blacks should realize that Africa is their actual level. Blacks in the US owe a huge debt of gratitude for being allowed to live in white managed societies.

This is important. Every time I've visited the continent I've had an on-ground, local network or the purse strings of clients. This is a priveledge most people (White or Black) do not have. It urks me that the people crying foul that Black Americans visit aren't actively looking for ways to improve infrastructure or create affordable opportunities.
