Magic has said that when he was diagnosed with HIV, one of the first people to call him to offer support was Larry. Their friendship is one of the "greatest of all time".

Magic-Bird is the greatest rivalry/bromance in history.

Larry Bird was one of the first people to call Magic after he was diagnosed with HIV, Magic tells the story and tears up thinking about it.

Larry had a unmatched IQ for the game! He knew where all of his team mates were at any given time of the play. He was just amazing!

Larry Legend was way ahead of everyone else, even Jordan and MJ would even admit this. He was simply better than anyone else at this game mentally, by far.

Bird at his best was better than anyone else at their best. Period.

The Magic Johnson and Larry Legend rivalry/friendship is the most Iconic in all of basketball. No other competitive friendship has done more for any other sport. Period.

The great thing about Bird was that he produced! Talked the Talk -- Walked the walk!!! He lived rent FREE in the other players heads!! I grew up in Boston in the 80's. The atmosphere surrounding The Celtics and especially Larry Bird during that time was palpable.

Not only will there never be another Larry Bird, there will never be another Magic, Kareem, Dr.J, Kevin McHale, Shaq, Kobe, MJ and the list goes on. That was THE GREATEST period of basketball.

When Larry took a shot, in particular an end of game game winning shot, until the ball rimmed out or otherwise missed, everyone KNEW it was going to drop in the hole.
