I was in this battle! That capital ship was sure useful against interceptors but you NEED to bring a field neutralizer with you if you're in a fight like this. Watched a few of our guys (and nearly me) fall out of the sky over and over.

The thargoid interceptors need their hearts to be destroyed before you can do any meaningful damage to them iirc. I think you can select them trough the subsystem targeting.
