Thanks, it's one of the best 29er bikes for around 1000$ and the only real upgrades you'll need are new pedals 90$ lock on grips 20$ the rest is extra -carbon handlebar 90$ race lite rims 300$ deora xt crankset 300$ tires 50$ each tire with those upgrades I took just about 4 pounds off the bike overall weight I'm always looking 4 good deals on upgrades

Free ride pedals are perfectly good for all types of mountain bikes especially the Mamba take care

The tires are a bit heavy but still good enough traction for trail riding if u want to ride on pavement you'll have to go with a closer pattern tread design tire hence the kenda small block 8.

The front shock came with the bike stock but u can get it from a trek bike shop or there online site I got the crank from my LBS.

Where did you buy the front shock and crank from?

I recommend the trek over specialized because trek comes with 100mm rockshox which performs awesome vs 80mm suntour shock on specialized also drivetrain & components are a bit better on the trek.

@jreg027 How tall are you? I want to know based on the fact that you have a 19" frame.

I hear the tires on the '12 mambas are awful. Really heavy and terrible rolling resistance.
