They are burrowers. Give them moist coco fiber, not dirt. They methodically weave the chunks of coco into their silken retreat, and make multiple 'false burrows' designed to lure woodlice into their waiting chelicerae :)

There's a huge one of these that lives outside my back door, and I was watching him hunting last night. He did this thing with his front legs, poking them into any little cracks in the wall, like he was almost "fishing" for woodlice! It was fascinating to watch. Second night I've seen him (I assume it's a him anyway) in the area, so I'm hoping it's the same one.

How come mine won’t burrow
lemonypeasy315 (2 hour ago)
I found mine on a signboard right under a birch tree that's infested with woodlouse

I live on long Island in a fairly suburban area, but there's about an acre of woods behind my house. I was collecting rocks for a gardening project when I came upon one of these monstrosities. Why you would ever want these things as pets is beyond me, but as soon as I saw it I just dropped the rock back where it was and nope'd the fuck out. I thought stuff like this was relegated to Australia. I don't mind orb weavers and daddy long legs, (IK, they're not spiders), I find jumpers kind of cute and have even briefly kept a grass spider before releasing it, but these I cannot abide. It is something about their fleshy coloration and giant fangs.

How did you get the soil? Also, how did you get it compacted so she can dig

Does she feed her slings? Mine might have slings soon so I’m trying to find out how to feed them

How many isopods do they need to eat a day? I just caught one.

I find these wandering around my apartment now and then... not sure why, since I've never seen a single pillbug in or around the premises. I'd love to catch one and keep it in my terrarium, but I have NO idea where I could find a steady supply of food for it. :/
