Gary is an avid angler of both fresh and salt water originally from New England. Now living in Florida, a whole new world of fishing has opened up with new places to go and species to catch.

This is exactly how I done mine. I used 3/4 inch conduit so I can put a bicycle grip on top, only used for balance anyway.

UPDATE: Do NOT use the EMT Conduit for the pole. Mine Failed with a stress crack. Use 1 - 1 1/2" schedule 40 Galvanized steel pipe or 1" square Pipe. The rest of the system is rock solid.

The long bolt you added might keep the tire carrier from falling off completely, but it won't keep you from hitting the ground.
