The modern name Sweden is derived through back-formation from Old English Sweoðeod, which meant "people of the Swedes" (Old Norse Svíþjóð, Latin Suetidi). This word is derived from Sweon/Sweonas (Old Norse Sviar, Latin Suiones). The Swedish name Sverige literally means "Kingdom of the Swedes", excluding the Geats/Goths in Götaland and the Sami people in the north Sweden.
Variations of the name Sweden are used in most languages, with the exception of Danish and Norwegian using Sverige and the more notable exception of some Finno-Ugric languages where Ruotsi (Finnish) and Rootsi (Estonian) are used, names commonly considered etymologically related to the English name for Russia, referring to the vikings from now a days Sweden who was called , Rus in the east', the name derive from the coastal areas of Uppland — Roslagen.

Last European king to die in battle. Imagine how bizzare it would seem today if Obama or Putin declared war and then ran around with guns on the frontline, but that was how it used to be.

Charles XII is the last king in history to die in battle. Not only did he find it paramount to participate in person but he often fought in the front lines too. That seems like a good principle for a monarch to have, to avoid any Kim Jong Un type situation where the ruler's world is completely detached from real life.

I was playing this while battling as Sweden in Empire Total War last night. It was epic. Starting a Great Northern War against Denmark, Russia, and Poland all at once and generally winning is pretty cool. I started a new game, in my previous playthrough I never ended up going to war with Poland so I focused on Russia and actually had a sizable battle near "Poltava" on the map except I easily thrashed the Russians lol.
