Constantine XI Palaiologos the last emperor, Stripped himself of his armor. Rallying his men into one final charge as the ottomans surged over the breach, dying with great honor.

I always think it’s strange how Rome was started by Romulus and ended with Romulus and Constantinople was founded as the eastern Roman Capitol by Constantine and ended with Constantine. Quite poetic.

In that final siege the Romans fought and kept the tradition of bravery alive. Just like their fathers and grandfathers before them, they fought and died on those walls, to protect that last beacon of the Roman Empire. May they rest well.

One of the greatest wars in mankind history! No one can forget that mehmed made his ships sail on land. That's insane!

F for Constantine XI, he was a true solider and emperor :(( Maybe he couldn't do very much to save the Empire, but he didn't sourrender and fought till his last breath [*]

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "Verily you shall conquer Constantinople. What a wonder leader will he be, and what a wonderful army will that army be!". It's amazing how Mehmet II was fulfilling The Prophet's prophecy as he was entering Constantinople.

For all the Turk vs. Greek fighting over this...if the Greeks want to hate anyone over the fall of Byzantium, hate the Venetians. It was the Catholics and the Latin Empire that first sacked the city and turned the empire into a shadow of itself. It was those who were supposed to be on a Crusade, traitors, who paved the way for the Turks to begin with, two centuries earlier.

Constatine XI died along with his empire. Respect. The Romans knew they had no chance, but still fought furiously.

The tragic death of the Byzantine Empire, the Roman Empire, the city of Constantinople, and an entire civilisation. The wall that protected Europe from total Islamic conquest, and the pillar of Orthodox Christianity.

Fortunately they didn't destroy Hagia Sophia so we can still see this heavenly church/mosque and listen to its song....That's a shame that Byzantine culture is forgotten in Europe!

I blame the Venetians and the 4th crusade for sacking Constantinople the led to their fall to the Ottomans.

Guys, I don't see any logical comments here from any of you. Take a deep breath and think about it. When we come to this world, we don't pick our own (language, religion, culture, ethnicity, color or even our own names) correct?
