@LollerStormeR Less aware of the surroundings meaning 1. If a bicycle is in the cycle lane to her left she is less likely to notice it 2. she is less aware of the lights and so will slow everyone else down by her delayed reaction to it.

@ZackValentine It's still illegal. Even if you're not moving, you're still supposed to be staying aware of your surroundings in case situations change i.e. emergency vehicle needing access, an accident occuring, a green light, pedestrians crossing between vehicles. Not texting your mate. The fact she wasn't even aware of the cop shows she wasn't paying any attention whatsoever to what was going on around her, that's why it's illegal, even while stationary at a red light.

@Mathewmartialart It's green for left turn, as with many cars they don't notice for a while! Also note comments below ;)

@ZackValentine You cannot see what is going on around you if you are concentrating on a phone. That means if a bicycle is now on your inside or a pedestrian is crossing the road you won't notice it, you will look up from your phone and see a green light and just go - that is why it is illegal. Not only is it dangerous, it slows all the other vehicles who have to wait for the driver to notice a green light. Can anyone argue that someone's life is less important than reading a text?

@pympster yes you're right. The police officer is more worried about somebody texting while stopped rather than someone crossing the red light. It's stupid

@anthony342 No, there's a green arrow, which means you can go left. Click HD and go to the full screen mode.

Fair play to whoever uploaded this. Biggest waste of 20 seconds, yet apparently staring at a policeman warrants over a million views!

@SuperGorjess In a lot of places it is not considered to be "driving" when you are operating the controls to maintain a stopped vehicle *on the shoulder*. Many people ignore that last bit.

@puls4r1 Exactly, even when stationary you need to be aware of you're surroundings! It's not like the police motorbike is a subtle colour!
