Texan here (Geographer/GIS/Environmental sciences) and have a close friend working with this group. She is currently on a different site that may change this date back even further. Exciting time to be alive!

Several very influential American archeologists firmly believed there was nothing below the Clovis floor. If and when any archeologist published evidence of it occupation below clovis; they ruined their careers. "Science advances funeral by funeral." The evidence has been available for about a century. Many archeologists would simply refuse to dig below a certain strata in their excavation, for fear of losing grant funding.

This is exactly what science is about. The best evidence, an open mind and a desire to learn ever more .

Love Alice Roberts! I'm so glad she's doing things outside of Britain as well. She's such a great presenter.

Just North of Austin Texas in the county of Leander they found the “Leanderthal Lady”. Leanderthal Lady is the skeletal remains of a prehistoric woman discovered in January 1983 near the city of Leander, Texas. The remains were alternatively labeled "Leanne."Both names were inspired by the proximity of the site to the town of Leander, a suburb of Austin. Contrary to her name, the Leanderthal Lady lived during the end of the Ice Age, long after the Neanderthals.

History doesn't give our early human ancestors much credit when it comes to finding the grass greener elsewhere.

There is another very obvious route into the Americas, the oceans. Ancient people could hunt and fish along the along the edge of the frozen oceans, both Atlantic and Pacific, and arrive at the Americas. A land corridor was never needed.
