Respect for that officer........

He was phishing, plain and simple. Sure, he was decent enough, but it was still phishing. I wondered when he said something about the lights on the back, but when he started asking about the DOT approval on the helmet, I knew he was full of crap.

From some comments on here. I see quite of few people failed to read why the cops were pulling over bikers.

A little kindness goes a long way.

CA laws on lighting for motorcycles: 

He was a "nice cop" because you guys were nice to him. It's wonderful how that works.

It is not illegal to supplement your Headlamps, Taillamps or Brake lights In California. It is in the Vehicle code.

Seemed like fatherly advice. Very nice attitude from the officer. Good to know that people like him serve in the law enforcement.

THAT is a Veteran Police Officer .... handles himself the CORRECT way , and is respectful of the citizens !!!!!

Nice cop, looking out for the riders best interests.  It's true, most aftermarket lighting and such on bikes is illegal because it makes it hard for regular motorists to recognize that it's a bike in front of them.  He's doing nothing more than letting the riders know about the law.  Kudos to the cop for being cool, and the riders for not loosing theirs.

Good to see this officer is genuinely very concerned about riding and driving safely. He checked the helmets the lights this cop is very competent and thorough. Rather than give a ticket which doesn't really educate a person about safe driving he talks about riding safe. He is out to prevent road accidents which happen all to often. Ride safe, drive safe.

Cool cop, I never mind being pulled over by a nice cop and chatting with them a bit, one time I got pulled over for speeding on the 405 freeway 20 mph over the limit there was no traffic around me, the cop asked "why were you speeding", I said I was trying to keep up with the traffic, he then said "there is no traffic" and I said exactly im really far behind and have to catch up, he started laughing and I got my self out of a $500 ticket! And we talked for about 5 minutes really cool guy, just shows not all cops are pigs only some.

Where was the nice cop? unless you were being sarcastic. He was looking for anything and everything possible to make money from you or anyone there.

Everything in CA is illegal for christ sake. Best decision I ever made was to move out of that state.
