Just got the same gun. The shotgun is just one of the best guns ever invented. You can hunt smaller birds with it, larger turkeys and geese, or go big and hunt boar, deer, or bear. You can hunt just about anything with it, and as far as self defense goes . . . the shotgun is the original "getto blaster"! :-)

I have an 870 Express Magnum (deer combo) with aftermarket Speed Feed stocks. One barrel is the 20" smooth bore with rifle sights and the other is a 28" vent rib with variable chokes. If someone can only have one firearm to hunt and to fight if necessary, the 870 is that firearm. It's good for deer, small game and the wolf at the door.

Your shotgun is just like mine. No frills, just basic. I prefer it that way. I want the Trijicon big dot for the front sight, maybe a trigger upgrade, and that's about it.

A shotgun slug is a variation of the shotgun slug. A shotgun slug is large piece of metal (correct me if I'm wrong) inside the shell and can stay in the air longer when fired and has less spread (if any spread) than a regular buckshot shell or a birdshot shell (flechette for you BF3 nerds)
