The "Star Pattern" looks like a shield for the Knights Hospitallers to me. And the "Red stripe" would be the Bend Sinister, to differentiate an Illegitimate son from his father's heraldry.

I've been checking their figs the last few days since I found them. They look amazing! Very cool that there's a gambeson wearing model as well. Gambeson btw is already a layered cloth armor so no need for padding.
