I have a 1998 VFR which is in many ways similar to the new ones especially in regards to ergonomics. I have done SF to Vancouver (21 hours) only stopping for fuel and a quick dinner with absolutely no issues whatsoever, and I'm 42.

Nice review for a great bike, but you forgot to mention that it has a VTEC

It's funny that Honda called it a VTEC, it's not really VTEC the same as a car. The timing is not actually variable. What really happens, the bike goes from 2 valves per cylinder to 4 valves per cylinder. The purpose is to give better economy and low down torque under 6500 RPM and more power over 6500 RPM. In reality, what happens is lots of hard accelerating and riding with 4 valves open because it sounds fantastic and is much more fun.

I bought a 2006 VFR today and I have never experienced such braking and handling in my life! I agree with all your comments; the V-4 is the best. I have a V-Max also!

I feel the same way about my 5th gen Interceptor. Geared cam whine, single-sided swing arm, aftermarket heated grips installed on aftermarket heli-bars. Don't know how v-tec feels, but I hear it's nice.

some magazines say it's the only bike you're ever going to need. I have had the nc30, vfr 750fv,800fi and now I have an 02 800 vtec. As a solo rider they are spot on. only when you're fully loaded with a passenger there a little cramped, but I bought an R1200gs for that. That v4 is ace, love it.

The Hit when the VTEC kicks is ABSOLUTELY Addicting Also hitting roundabouts at 50 MPH is amazing on one of these And I've popped the front wheel up power shifting from first to second at about 70MPH
