i like hi carbon steel cuz it can achieve a more wicked edge, although it will dull quicker.

China's version of 440C, which is 9cr18MoV is an excellent steel. It has just a touch less carbon, and just a touch more Chromium than American 440C, but it still falls within true 440C parameters. 440A is a much better steel than the steel snobs on YouTube want people to believe, and you obviously like it, but you don't like a steel that is made better in every possible way?

stainless has its place but I like HC better. stainless will chip and brake more often. harder to sharpen. a bent blade is better than a broke blade...
